Our Kaupapa

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia established a department named Te Whare Toko i te Ora o Ngāti Rēhia (Ngāti Rēhia Social Services) in order to achieve its goals of providing all aspects of healthcare initiatives within its rohe.

Vision

To create a supportive and inclusive community where all members have access to the resources and services they need to thrive. This might involve providing direct assistance and support to individuals and whānau facing challenges such as poverty, homelessness, or discrimination, as well as working to address systemic issues that contribute to social inequalities.

Objective Statement

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia strives to promote social justice and advocate for policies and practices that promote the wellbeing and dignity of all hapū & community members. Ultimately, the goal of the group would be to help create a more equitable and sustainable community for all its members.

Our Service Process

Enabling Self-Determination and Collective Success

  • Referrals: Open to all, including self-referrals, we ensure our doors are always open to those in need.
  • Comprehensive Assessment: A thorough evaluation identifies the strengths and needs of your whānau, laying the groundwork for tailored support.
  • Whānau Action Plan: Co-created with you and your whānau, this plan outlines the steps necessary for achieving success as you see it, encapsulating your aspirations and the means to fulfill them.
  • Navigator Support: A dedicated Kaiārahi will be assigned to your whānau, offering steadfast support as you implement your plan, and closely monitoring and celebrating your progress towards your goals.

  2. Scheduling a Hui: Depending on your circumstances and preferences, we will invite you to a hui at our office to talk in person. If coming to our office is not feasible for you, we can arrange a visit to your home. This meeting is a vital step in understanding your situation in depth and beginning our journey together.
  3. Assessment and Planning: During our meeting, we’ll explore your current challenges and discuss possible pathways forward. Our focus is on empowering you with the tools and knowledge to manage your situation effectively, aiming for long-term stability and wellbeing.
  4. Commitment to Change: While we have some funds available for emergency, one-off situations, our goal is to avoid short-term fixes. To access this support, we ask that you commit to engaging with our services for ongoing planning and improvement. This partnership is designed to help you make lasting changes that enhance your situation.
  5. Developing a Plan: Together, we will create a plan tailored to your needs and circumstances. This plan will address immediate concerns and outline steps towards achieving long-term goals, ensuring you have a clear path to follow.
