At Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia, we are committed to strengthening whānau through holistic, culturally grounded support. Te Whare Toko i te Ora o Ngāti Rēhia provides services that empower whānau to achieve well-being, stability, and self-determination.

Within this portfolio sit two key kaupapa:

  • Whānau Ora – Supporting whānau to lead their own pathways to success through holistic, wraparound services.
  • Ngā Tini Whetū – A dedicated kaupapa providing tailored support during the first 1,000 days of pēpī’s life.

Each kaupapa operates independently while working together to achieve long-term outcomes for whānau.

Vision

To create a supportive and inclusive community where all members have access to the resources and services they need to thrive. This might involve providing direct assistance and support to individuals and whānau facing challenges such as poverty, homelessness, or discrimination, as well as working to address systemic issues that contribute to social inequalities.

Objective Statement

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia strives to promote social justice and advocate for policies and practices that promote the wellbeing and dignity of all hapū & community members. Ultimately, the goal of the group would be to help create a more equitable and sustainable community for all its members.

About Us

Ngā Tini Whetū is a kaupapa focused on the first 1,000 days of pēpī’s life, ensuring whānau have the support they need to provide a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. This critical period shapes pēpī’s lifelong health, learning, and well-being.

Ngā Tini Whetū is designed for whānau who:

– Are expecting or have pēpī under three years old.
– Need support in creating a safe and stable home environment.
– Are committed to engaging with the kaupapa and working towards long-term wellbeing.

How We Support Whānau

Ngā Tini Whetū provides wraparound services tailored to each whānau needs, including:

  • Whānau Wellbeing Assessments – Identifying strengths, challenges, and setting achievable goals.
  • Safe Homes & Kāinga Haumaru – Home safety planning, car seat checks, fire safety, and secure sleeping spaces.
  • Pēpī Growth & Development – Tracking pēpī’s milestones, learning support, and whānau-led activities.
  • Practical Whānau Workshops – Budgeting, first aid, maara kai, and building life skills.
  • Ongoing Kaiārahi Support – Dedicated guidance from experienced mentors.

Tracking Progress with Te Hīnātore

Ngā Tini Whetū follows the Te Hīnātore framework to track whānau progress from Mauri Noho (languishing) to Mauri Oho (flourishing). This journey includes:

Ngā Whetū o te Mangōroa – Stability and crisis resolution.
Ngā Kāpehu Whetū – Strengthening whānau connections, knowledge, and resilience.
– Ngā Whetū Tīramarama – Aspirational planning and adaptability.
– Ngā Tini Whetū – Leadership, well-being, and economic security.

Regular check-ins and milestone tracking help whānau see their progress and celebrate achievements.
