As te iwi Māori march the final steps of this momentous hīkoi from Te Rerenga Wairua to Te Whanganui ā-Tara, Ngāti Rēhia express our utmost support for this powerful movement and display of mana Māori motuhake.
Ngāti Rēhia oppose the Treaty Principles Bill. Ngāti Rēhia oppose everything this bill stands for. After meeting with David Seymour personally to tell him that his hapū do not support what he is doing, that his Bill goes against everything his hapū stand for and have fought for mai rānō, that his hapū have serious concerns that his Bill will hurt our people – he has disregarded our voice and continued with this divisive kaupapa. Ngāti Rēhia oppose David Seymour and his efforts to marginalise our people on our own whenua.
